2024 Medi-Cal Managed Care Plan Updates: Stay Informed
The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and five commercial managed care plans (MCPs) have collaboratively announced an agreement to enhance Medi-Cal services across 21 California counties starting in January 2024. The initiative focuses on improving health equity, quality, access, accountability, and transparency in the Medi-Cal system, with an emphasis on person-centered, equity-focused, and data-driven healthcare. Participating MCPs, including Anthem, Blue Shield, CHG Foundation, Health Net, and Molina Healthcare, will operate under new contracts that enforce higher care standards and collaboration with local entities.
Overall, the goal is to transform Medi-Cal into an equitable and patient-centered healthcare system.
ABA Building Blocks initiated contact with DHCS to inquire how this will affect current Medi-Cal providers. Per DHCS, provider contracts will not be directly affected by the 2024 Managed Care Plan (MCP) Transition. We recommend reaching out to the respective MCPs for further information.
